A Name with a Vowel

Gann ended an email this morning with the following quote...

"And by the way, congratulate your parents on giving you a name with a vowel at the end--your new family would put it there if it wasn't already there!"

And, I laughed right out loud!

Yep, I'm the kid who got lucky enough to have parents who (unintentionally) named me properly for my East African adventures :)

Hey,
My name is Krista and I will be a Salter in Ethiopia this year. I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed reading your blog and hearing how your preparations are going. Looking forward to meeting you in a couple weeks.

Hi Kristina--Eva sent an email to me recently, commenting on your blog--she's reading it so I've taken time this morning to do so as well. You really capture village life, and I'm especially glad to see you reflecting on the lessons you are experiencing regarding racism and white privilege. Maybe we should discuss what that's like for us at a team meeting sometime? And I'm wondering if you want the team to call you Tina, since that's how you sign off on your blog?
Thanks for writing...
Gann
